Winterfell

Deepwood Motte

Place Kings of Winter

The hall of Deepwood Motte stands on the flat crown of a great hill, beside a watchtower that rises some fifty feet higher. Stables, a smithy and pens sit lower down the slope, and a dry ditch and a palisade of logs ring the whole.

It is very old and not especially strong. It lies in the wolfswood near the Bay of Ice, north of Sea Dragon Point, with fields of oats and barley cleared from the forest on its east and west.

House Glover holds it for Winterfell. The Glovers were kings among the First Men after the Long Night before they bent the knee, and they rank now as masters rather than lords. Their banner is a silver mailed fist on scarlet.
