Winterfell

Barrowton

Place Dawn Age

Barrowton grows around a great mound. The Great Barrow is a grave, and legend says the First King lies in it, the man who led the First Men into Westeros. Barrow Hall, seat of House Dustin, stands on top of it. Around it the town spreads, walled in timber, with wide straight streets and one lined with elms.

The land around is rolling plain, and the wind crosses it with nothing to stop it. Barrows lie all over it, the graves of the First Men, low and grassed over. An inn in the town hangs a sign painted with a sheaf of wheat, and there is a heart tree within the walls.

The Dustins claim the First King’s blood. The Barrow Kings who ruled here after him fought the Starks for a thousand years before the last of them yielded and gave his daughter to Winterfell. Lady Barbrey Dustin, a Ryswell by birth, holds Barrow Hall as the story opens.
