Winterfell

The Glass Gardens

Place Kings of Winter The Courtyard

The glass gardens stand within the walls, houses of glass that are wet and warm inside. The water of the hot springs runs beneath them, so their earth never freezes, and in the deepest winter there is still green under the panes.

They feed the castle when nothing else will grow. Fruit and greens come out of them in every season, flowers too, and in a long winter what they give is counted in lives. The lord can see them from his chambers in the Great Keep, the glass grey with frost.
